iPhone 7 & 7 Plus Audio IC Problem

A growing number of Apple iPhone users are experiencing audio issues and or problems with their iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Are you experiencing issues with yours?

What is the iPhone 7 & 7 Plus audio problem?

The Audio IC for the iPhone 7 manages the audio functions of the phone. Also known or called as the Loop disease, it is believed it may be caused by a loosening of the audio chip on the motherboard of the phone. Fixing the loose chip requires the chip to be temporarily removed and the wires beneath the chip to be soldered together.

Common Issues/Problems/symptoms

  1. Users have reported issues including occasional freezing of the phone screen.
  2. A grayed out icon for voice memos, a grayed out speaker icon during calls, and distorted audio.
  3. Some users have reported entire loss of audio during phone calls or FaceTime calls.
  4. Longer time to turn the phone on between 2-4 minutes.

The Problems often get worse over time, as the Audio IC chip’s connection to the motherboard continues to loosen. The phone may freeze or infinitely loop while displaying the Apple logo when starting up. Often, users will not realize that their phone has loop disease until it reaches this final stage, as many people do not reset or restart their phones regularly.
